We are looking for a highly motivated, enthusiastic and passionate individual to work in the Joint South Tees Public Health Service, aiming to improve health and wellbeing outcomes for the people of Middlesbrough and Redcar and Cleveland.

This post is about improving community awareness of cancer and ensuring that people are able to make informed decisions about their health and wellbeing to reduce their risk, promote better access to cancer screening programmes and provide support and information to enable early diagnosis to improve cancer health outcomes.

Reporting directly to the Health Improvement Specialist responsible for Cancer Prevention, you will work with local communities and a wide range of partner organisations across Middlesbrough and Redcar and Cleveland in the development of targeted campaigns and activities to promote awareness of cancer and early diagnosis.

You will need health improvement experience and knowledge and understanding of the cancer agenda, alongside demonstrable experience of working with communities to promote behaviour change. An understanding of cancer inequalities and barriers to community engagement is essential. You will have excellent communication skills, and willingness and passion to make a real difference in people’s lives. The post will require some occasional evening and weekend work.

For a further informal discussion, please contact Becky James, Health Improvement Specialist (Early Intervention & Prevention) on 01642 728741.
