Further Information
We're looking for a communications professional to help put the North on the global stage.
The Role
The Great North is a partnership of northern mayors working together to grow the economy and strengthen the North's profile across the UK and internationally. The North East MSA is the lead body for the partnership.
As Communications Manager, you'll lead media relations, stakeholder engagement and strategic communications for this ambitious programme. You'll support major initiatives including high profile events and campaigns working with partners across the north, with government and the private sector, to generate media coverage, increase digital engagement and build support among key audiences.
About you
You'll be an experienced communications, PR or public affairs professional with strong media relations skills and the ability to build effective partnerships, and comfortable working in the public policy sphere.
You'll be a confident communicator, comfortable working with senior stakeholders, managing competing priorities and delivering impactful campaigns that get noticed.
What it isn’t
This isn't a traditional communications role focused on a single organisation. It's a collaborative role working across multiple partners and places, helping tell a compelling story about the North.
So, if you…
- Have experience in communications, PR, public affairs or stakeholder engagement across complex organisations;
- Can deliver high-profile campaigns and secure media coverage;
- Can build strong relationships with partners and senior leaders;
- Want to play a key role in a programme that champions the North.
...we'd love to hear from you.
We are proud to be an inclusive employer, and we welcome applications from people of all backgrounds, communities and experiences. We support flexible working and encourage applications from candidates who are under-represented including women, disabled people, LGBTQ+ people and those from Black, Asian and minority ethnic backgrounds.
