Further Information
Cardinal Hume Catholic School was delighted to be one of the first schools in England to be awarded official ‘Computer Hub’ status in September 2019. This is recognition of the high standards and the results we achieve in computing education. ‘Computing Hubs’ are an exciting initiative created by the Department for Education and the National Centre for Computing (NCCE). The NCCE was set up in November 2018 by the Department for Education to increase the number of pupils in schools and colleges who study computer science at GCSE, AS and A level, particularly girls and those in disadvantaged areas, and to ensure that there is a strong pipeline of digital skills in England.

‘Cardinal Hume Catholic School Computing Hub’ will be a beacon for local computing training for schools, whilst developing links with industry and universities. We firmly believe that our unique partnership between an outstanding education provider and innovative industry specialists places our Computing Hub at the forefront of providing training for teachers that want to update their digital skills and knowledge (CPD) to pass on to young people (in secondary and primary schools) as well as developing a digitally literate workforce for the region. We are extremely excited about this initiative and fantastic opportunity.

Over 2 computing hubs, we support the local authority districts of Newcastle, Gateshead, Durham and Cumbria.  We are looking to expand our team which currently consists of a hub / secondary lead, an administrative lead and a primary lead.

We are seeking a new Primary Lead for 1 day to support schools and the NCCE programme in Cumbria.  If you have a passion for Computer Science, we would love to hear from you.
