Burnside’s Maths department consists of 8 full-time and 1 part-time teaching staff. Within the department there are 10 Maths classrooms and each is equipped with a desktop computer and state of the art, interactive teaching software; providing students with an ideal learning environment in which they can flourish.

The Curriculum
It is expected that all members of the Maths team are able to teach across Key Stages 3 and 4. Teaching groups are streamed with class sizes of up to 32 students. At KS3, additional numeracy lessons are timetabled as part of an alternative curriculum designed to support students working significantly below the expected level.

The Teaching Post
The successful candidate will be responsible for the planning and delivery of lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4 in the first instance. They will be required to assess the work of their students and provide constructive, individual feedback on a weekly basis.

The Maths department places a strong emphasis on the development of effective teaching and learning strategies. Through ongoing weekly CPD, the Maths team are focussed upon ensuring that differentiation is used to provide a suitable level of challenge for all students and that effective Assessment for Learning is used to support student progress. The successful candidate will be enthusiastic, highly motivated and a creative practitioner who is committed to developing their own practice, as well as the practice of others, and supporting the achievement of all students.
