Further Information
This is an exciting time to join North Tyneside Council. Ofsted have stated that “Staff are extremely positive about working in North Tyneside and morale is high. They cite the support, supervision, training, clear career progression and the high visibility and approachability of senior managers as contributing to the positive learning culture in the council”

In March 2017, Ofsted graded our services for children and young people amongst the top performing in the country, judging us ‘Good’ with ‘Outstanding’ features.

As part of our ambitious drive to improve further, we are currently implementing Signs of Safety as a model of practice across the workforce, with all staff offered dedicated support and training. We have also implemented the Liquidlogic case management system and delivered agile working for our staff through the provision of 2-in-1 4G enabled mobile devices, allowing workers to be mobile and spend more time working directly with children, young people and families.

We have Partner in Practice status in recognition of the strength of our practice and the outcomes we achieve for children. This status enables us to innovate and we are in the process of developing a bespoke “Edge of Care” service. We also work with other Local Authorities to support them on their own improvement journeys.

We are looking for experienced social workers to join our Social Work Teams- Front Door, Safe and Supported and Fostering. You will be working alongside committed professionals who are determined to deliver an excellent service. You will also work for a Council proud of its employees and one passionate and committed to improving outcomes and a Brighter Future for children and young people.

You will bring enthusiasm and dedication and in return we will provide you with the opportunity to join a progressive and innovative organisation which values its employees and provides opportunities to contribute to an exciting time in its improvement journey.

We will offer:

Grade 8- A competitive starting salary of £28,470 (this includes £2,000 market supplement )
Grade 9 –(progressed or working towards) A competitive salary up to £36,106 (dependent on grade and experience and which includes a £2,000 market supplement)

For an informal discussion about the role please contact Victoria McLeod, Majella Tallack, Jodie Henderson or Nik Flavell on telephone number 0191 6436027.

Please be advised that this position will require an enhanced check from the Disclosure & Barring Service.

North Tyneside Council is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.

In addition, staff and volunteers are expected to familiarise themselves with all relevant policies, procedures and guidance in relation to safeguarding children and safe practice with vulnerable adults. Within North Tyneside, safeguarding is everybody’s business.
