Middlesbrough Council are seeking to appoint a Deputy Manager, where you will have the opportunity to channel your skills and passions in a rewarding career.

We have a fabulous opportunity to work in our residential homes for children and young people aged between 8 and 18 years old. Who for a variety of reasons, cannot currently live with the families.

The successful candidates will be based in a named home or service but will be expected to be prepared to work in any Middlesbrough Children’s Home or service as needed, or to work with children who are living in the community or within their own homes.

About you

Are you passionate, motivated, have a restorative approach and excellent verbal and written skills? Do you have experience of supervising staff, creating care plans and safety plans? Have a minimum of 2 years’ experience of working with children and young people in a similar setting? If so, we would like to hear from you.

You will be committed to providing a high quality of care and support, which meets the physical, emotional, intellectual, behavioural, health, social and cultural needs of the children and families for whom the home provides a service. This will include working with children with challenged behaviour, complex emotional problems, mental health disorders, and other additional needs.

Applicants must:

Have a recognised QCF Level 4 diploma in Residential Care in working with children and young people or an equivalent qualification. Or a willingness to undertake.

Experience of managing challenging situations.

Have a full UK Driving License.

Experience of partnership working.

Have an understanding of child development and challenging behaviour.

A positive attitude and the ability to work with children and young people in a trauma informed way.

Working Hours

You will be required to work unsocial hours, and this will be on a rota basis. Including weekends, bank holidays, and sleep ins and nights where applicable.
