Job title: Development Assistant Service area: Employed by The Gateshead Housing Company and seconded to Keelman Homes Limited Job ref: TGHC500 Grade: Grade E £18,070 – £20,138 per annum (SCP 18-21). Full time – 37 hours per week. Permanent. Applicable to: External vacancy Closing date: Midnight on Friday, 23 February 2018 This is an exciting opportunity for a forward thinking, enthusiastic individual with experience of working in the housing sector to work with an energetic team, delivering new affordable housing opportunities in Gateshead. Specific experience within the housing development field is not necessary as full training will be given. The successful candidate will help in the delivery of the Keelman Homes’ planned new build and refurbishment programmes, and any other investment/improvement projects. Based in Gateshead Civic Centre but will occasionally be required to travel throughout Gateshead. Background Keelman Homes Limited is a not-for-profit charitable Registered Provider based in the borough of Gateshead, in north east England. The company is owned and run by a Board of Trustees that are responsible for the success of the company and who are committed to providing quality affordable homes in Gateshead. The Board also ensures Keelman Homes’ Lettings and Rent Setting Policies remain appropriate, fair and transparent. The company was initially set up in 2009 to develop nearly 150 new homes for rent, sale and shared ownership, including art and play schemes, as part of the regeneration at Kibblesworth in south Gateshead. This was completed with the support of The Gateshead Housing Company (TGHC), Gateshead Council, Keepmoat Homes and the Homes & Communities Agency (HCA). Building on the regeneration of Kibblesworth, Keelman Homes has continued to develop new rented properties and has also successfully brought more than 40 empty homes back into use across Gateshead. In order to effectively manage its housing stock, Keelman Homes procures day-to-day housing management services from The Gateshead Housing Company. Keelman Homes co-locates with TGHC and Gateshead Council in their Civic Centre offices, central Gateshead. Today Keelman Homes is enjoying a growth period with a steadily increasing stock base of around 190 properties, and it continues to build and purchase more quality homes across the borough, priding itself on collaborative working with partners. In particular, Gateshead Council, TGHC and the HCA have been integral to the success of Keelman Homes’ housing developments, along with other partnerships with private house builders and contractors. For an informal discussion about the role please email Amanda Gallagher, Development and Investment Manager – Keelman Homes, or call 0191 433 5411. You should consider the job profile when applying, giving examples of how you meet the criteria.
