Further Information
  • Are you an experienced Electrician who is 18th Edition Qualified?
  • Do you want to work in a diverse and rewarding role with the opportunity to add to your skills including HGV Driver Training?
  • Are you looking for a new challenge where the work you do allows you to stay local to Stockton-on-Tees and have a positive impact on the people of the borough?

Look no further! We have a fantastic opportunity for an Electrical Working Supervisor in the Highways and Street Lighting team.

The role will be responsible for the delivery and supervision of street lighting operations which will include undertaking maintenance, testing, service, repair and installation of street lighting, street furniture and associated equipment. As an Electrical Working Supervisor, you will also be responsible for supervision of a small team including allocation, oversight and sign off of work undertaken.

To be successful you will need to be qualified in 18th Edition Wiring Regulations. Experience in Street Lighting operations would be preferable but as a minimum you will need to have substantial experience as an Electrician along with good communication and problem-solving skills. Ideally you would be G39 Electrical Safety Trained (working in the vicinity of DNO equipment) although this is not essential, as training would be given and the ability to work at height is also an essential requirement.

The role will involve driving to sites across the Stockton Borough therefore a full driving licence is essential as well as the ability to be on call and work outside normal working hours in line with operational needs (payment for this is provided).

Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council prides itself on being a great place to work where staff are trusted, valued, and supported to make a positive contribution at work.

We offer an excellent total reward package, including:
  • A competitive salary of up to £34,834
  • 27 days annual leave per year rising to 32 with 5 years service (plus bank holidays). Ability to purchase additional leave is also available.
  • Generous Pension Scheme through the LGPS with ability to pay extra and plan for retirement.
  • Access to a number of other employee benefits including learning & development opportunities, a car lease scheme, discounts at high street and online retailers, an employee assistance programme and physiotherapy services.
