The Employability Team are looking for an Officer to join the team and help deliver our commitment to supporting residents into work. The successful candidate will have responsibility for supporting the delivery of our Green Start project. Green Start will offer customers the opportunity to embark on ‘career starter roles’ within the green and low carbon sector.The placement programme will support employers but also provide a fantastic opportunity for customers to gain skills and experience within this growing and exciting employment sector.

We are looking for someone who has experience in a supportive role, is confident in advising and guiding people in how to develop their employability skills and is passionate and enthusiastic about supporting people into work. You would need an understanding of the barriers that unemployed customers face, and be proactive, creative and committed to developing partnerships and links to improve opportunities for unemployed customers.

You will need to be organised, IT competent and have the confidence to be able to plan and deliver 1-2-1 support and training sessions.  
Responsibilities will include:
  • Managing a customer caseload and providing 1-2-1 advice and guidance to customers to help them become more job ready.
  • Supporting Green Start employers with their recruitment to the programme.
  • Preparing candidates for their placement and providing a package of pastoral ‘in work’ support.
  • Planning and delivering regular job clubs and training sessions for the residents employed through Green Start.
  • Engaging with employers and training providers.
  • Working with partners and employers to plan events, co-ordinate job bulletins and develop projects.
  • Delivering from a range of community venues, ensuring that our support is local and accessible.
