We are looking for dedicated and enthusiastic candidates who hold a degree or equivalent in Environmental Health and are EHRB registered. You will need to have demonstrable experience of conducting inspections and investigations, with an excellent grasp of food and health and safety legislation.

Dependent upon qualifications and experience you will assume responsibility for the investigation of food hygiene, health and safety, public health and other fields of work (up to and including the production of prosecution reports) in the field of Environmental Health with a focus on the Commercial Sector.

You will have some responsibility for developing workflow plans for this work, with careful consideration being given to officers’ ongoing support, training and development needs.

You will have excellent communication skills, preparing and presenting reports to Council committees and other internal/external meetings, dealing with members of the public, engaging with other agencies and stakeholders and supporting existing and new business partners.

Your rewards for working at Darlington Borough Council go beyond the salary you will receive. Lots of benefits are included in our employment terms and conditions, such as 31 days annual leave and access to the Local Government Pension Scheme to name but a few.
