(Children and Families Social Care, Fostering Services)

An exciting employment opportunity has arisen for a family worker to join the growing and developing Kinship Team.

South Tyneside Council is committed to supporting children to remain within their birth families and networks, when it is safe for them to do so and also recognises that caring for children in connected care arrangements can be hugely rewarding yet challenging at times. The Connected Carers Team undertakes focussed and specialised assessments of connected carers and delivers tailored support to connected care families.

We are looking for a child focussed, skilled and enthusiastic person to join the service who is committed to:

  • Providing timely and effective packages of support to children and connected carers in response to assessed need.
  • Contributing to interventions designed to help children benefit from stability in their care arrangements.
  • Ensuring that the child is at the centre of all decision making and interventions.
  • Participating and contributing to multi-agency assessment, planning and review.
  • Working in partnership with children, connected carers and colleagues within the team and from other agencies and organisations.
  • Providing individual and collective support to connected carers, which includes maintaining the established support group in place, whilst ensuring this is strengthened, is creative and it is responsive to connected carers’ needs wherever possible.

Staff within the Kinship Team work with key partners to develop a shared understanding of the service and to gather feedback to help shape further development.

Please see the attached job description and person specification which provides more detail about the role. If you would like to discuss this post in more detail please contact Lisa Henderson, Practice Manager on (0191) 4244207.
