An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced HR Adviser to join our Human Resources and Workforce Development service for a 12 month fixed term contract covering a period of maternity leave.

One of the key functions of the role will be to provide comprehensive HR advice and support to managers across Care, Wellbeing and Learning (Adult Social Care & Public Health).

You will be required to design and tailor HR solutions which meet the service's needs as well as providing support, guidance and advice to services on the interpretation and implementation of HR policies and procedures to ensure they are applied in an effective, fair and consistent manner.

You will also be required to contribute to the development of HR policies and procedures, and prepare reports and other documentation for presentation to management and the Council, ensuring that employment related issues are fully and properly considered and documented.

This temporary post will suit a self-motivated person who has excellent communication, interpersonal and organisational skills.

If you are interested in this post you will need to demonstrate that you have knowledge and experience of providing HR advice on the full range of workforce issues - recruitment, capability, absence management, redundancy, discipline & grievance as well as up to date knowledge of current employment law and the ability to apply it practically to workplace situations.

You should have a relevant degree or equivalent and be CIPD qualified or working towards this.

You will be working in a small team therefore the ability to work independently using your own initiative but also as an effective team member is essential. Effective written and verbal presentation skills and the ability to influence others and develop constructive relationships with managers and colleagues are an important part of the role and should be demonstrated by the successful candidate.

It is essential that you can use your organisational skills to prioritise workload and deliver to tight deadlines and have previous knowledge and experience of undertaking research and data analysis.

It is desirable that you have knowledge and experience of HR in a large organisation, the public sector and working in a unionised environment.
