The post on offer is based at the centre of the council in the Resources Directorate which has key responsibility for managing the Council’s money and people as well as ensuring that democratic decisions are well informed and legally sound.

The council is continually reviewing the way we deliver our IT Services and are reshaping the way the service impacts not only on the delivery of the council’s business but also how it can help to radically improve the economy by improving the efficiency and effectiveness of all our IT-supported business processes. As such we are looking to recruit a motivated individual who has a strong desire to build upon and develop their technical and personal skills, has good customer service skills with a flair in administration and is looking to gain valuable and demonstrable experience in the workplace.

You will be part of the Support Team within the IT Service as defined in the IT workplan. This will include, but is not limited to, providing technical support and assistance to around 2000 system users across all service areas and sites and timely management of incidents and access to services. 

The role will also involve configuring of devices, including laptops, tablets and mobile phones as well as meeting users - both face to face and via Teams. The role will support the IT Service with its responsibility for digital services transformation.

This apprenticeship role will provide the opportunity to develop, apply and strengthen your existing skills, knowledge, and experience by way of practical application. Opportunities to gain a broad range of experiences in many aspects of IT Service Support.

In addition, you will work towards a funded Level 3 ICT Support Technician qualification, supported by a strong mentorship underpinned by professional management and leadership and the council’s Apprenticeship team.
