The North East Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP) is recruiting an Innovation Director to lead, animate and develop its Innovation Programme, with the aim of driving new thinking around innovation and its ecosystem in the North East of England.

This is a unique opportunity to help deliver the North East Strategic Economic Plan (SEP) and define the North East as an innovation hot spot in Europe – an exemplar in ‘smart specialisation’ and open innovation systems and practice.

Working closely with board-level leaders and other professionals across a range of organisations and sectors, the Innovation Director will be accountable to the Executive Director.

With a proven track record of defining and directing innovation programmes and projects from conception to delivery, you will have senior experience within either the private or public sectors.

You will use your knowledge of global best-practice in developing innovation eco-systems with the aim of driving new thinking around innovation to improve our productivity performance and catalyse growth in ‘better’ jobs.

The successful candidate will combine entrepreneurial flair and a high level of drive and motivation with a strong and open leadership style that enthuses and inspires others.

With excellent communication and analytical skills, you will demonstrate the ability to achieve major cultural and organisational change and drive results through influence, negotiation and joint working.
