As an Employability Skills Development Officer for learningSkills, you will be required to design, develop and deliver innovative learning programmes that support and lead to a reduction of worklessness.

You will work closely with individuals and groups of unemployed learners to raise levels of confidence, remove barriers to employment and significantly improve their life chances. In addition, you will also establish, develop and maintain effective internal and external partnerships, including links with employers and Jobcentre Plus, for the purpose of increasing learner participation and support. As well as complying with quality processes and associated course administration, you will encourage progression and ensure a safe and supportive learning environment.

You will have knowledge of delivering learning programmes in a range of settings, including carrying out initial and diagnostic assessments. A knowledge of current teaching, learning and assessment practices including a commitment to anti-discriminatory practices and strategies to help learners overcome complex barriers to learning. Knowledge of JCP/ DWP and other referral agency requirements and experience of working with challenging learners to overcome multiple and complex barriers to learning and work are also essential.

As a minimum, you will have a level 4 teaching or training qualification and experience of using ILT in innovative ways to enhance the learning experience. You will have experience of employer liaison or arranging work experience placements and all administration relating to teaching and learning.
