Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council’s in house legal team has an exciting opportunity for two Legal Officers to join our busy and friendly Legal Practice Team, following the internal promotion of two team members.
 
You will provide general legal support to the whole team. This is a very varied role, so you need to:
  • be an excellent communicator with good written English
  • enjoy working as part of a team
  • have good attention to detail
  • be confident and accurate using ICT
  • be well organised.
  • have experience or interested in developing your legal knowledge, skills and experience particularly in Adult Social care and/or Litigation and/or Education but also in other areas of work
  • enjoy working flexibly
As a Legal Officer the range of your work will include (but is not limited to) :- children’s social care, property, contracts and commercial work, adult social care, SEND, litigation matters, local land charges, debt recovery and case management. We are seeking to recruit two Legal Officers with a main focus on Adults, Litigation and Education but with an ability to be flexible to cover other work.
 
We are a busy team, often working to tight deadlines so high personal standards and an ability to work under pressure and prioritise work will be essential. This is an excellent opportunity to start or build on your experience to date and will provide you with an insight into a number of legal disciplines in a diverse organisation.

The Council’s Legal Team is divided into three core areas providing legal advice and support on a range of legal disciplines to services across the Council.  We will provide you with the support and training to undertake the range of legal work required.
