Based in Hirst Park, Ashington, Northumberland, you will play a key role in delivering the £2.7m Hirst Park Revival Project funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund and Big Lottery.

Over a four and a half year period you will be central to the delivery of community, volunteer and trainee involvement in the park. You will be responsible for the delivery of the Hirst Park Revival Activity Plan, including planning and delivering community events in and around the park. You will also be involved in assisting with the day to day coordination of the £1.8m capital park enhancement scheme, and other horticultural, community, and site development projects.

Applicants must be able to demonstrate experience of working in a public park environment, and have a strong background in community engagement and event and activity management. You must be willing to work one day at the weekend (though some flexibility around the working pattern is possible) . You should enjoy working outdoors and be capable of inspiring the local community to engage in the revival of Hirst Park.

Educated to level 2 in a horticultural discipline (or willing to train towards this), it is essential that you also have relevant experience in parks development, partnership working, organisation and coordinating successful public events and engaging with communities.
