Temporary post for up to 12 months required to cover Maternity leave

The Participation Team

South Tyneside’s Participation Team leads participation work across the Council. This spans a number of work stream, including:
• Children looked after in South Tyneside – a range of groups and activities which ensure children in care, and care leavers, have a voice and an influence over the services they receive
• Primary voices – a range of activity designed to capture views and voices of children aged 5-11yrs from across the borough and campaign on their behalf.
• South Tyneside Young People’s Parliament (STYPP) – a weekly group that runs an annual campaign on behalf of children aged 12-18yrs across the borough. This work stream also includes support and supervision of South Tyneside’s Member of Youth Parliament (MYP)

This post will lead the STYPP, supporting young people to develop and deliver their annual campaign. The successful candidate will also support South Tyneside’s MYP.

By putting young people in the lead, the Participation Team will deliver changes to services which make the most difference to them.

We are looking for an outstanding and motivated individual with the commitment and ambition to ensure the best possible outcomes for children and young people of South Tyneside.

The post will include evening work (Wednesdays) and occasional weekends.
