Help shape the future of the North East.
Are you looking for a role where your work has a direct impact on some of the biggest opportunities and challenges facing the region?
We're looking for an organised, proactive and ambitious Performance & Policy Officer to join our growing Policy, Planning & Performance Team at the heart of the North East Mayoral Strategic Authority. Working across a fast-paced and high-profile agenda, you'll support the delivery of the Mayor's priorities and strategic missions, helping to translate ambitious plans into real outcomes for communities, businesses and residents across the North East.
This is a fantastic opportunity to gain exposure to senior decision-making, regional policy development and corporate performance reporting, while working alongside colleagues across the Authority and with a wide range of external partners. No two days are the same. One day you could be supporting a Mayoral stocktake, the next coordinating performance information for a corporate report, preparing briefing materials for senior leaders, or helping to shape policy work on key regional priorities.
In this role, you'll:
- Help produce corporate plans, performance reports, briefings and presentations that support strategic decision-making.
- Coordinate information, actions and reporting across a range of high-profile projects and workstreams.
- Support policy and strategy development through research, analysis and stakeholder engagement.
- Organise and support meetings, workshops and stakeholder forums, ensuring actions are tracked and delivered.
- Work closely with colleagues, local authorities and partners to help deliver the Authority's ambitions for the region.
We're looking for someone who is highly organised, thrives on variety, enjoys working collaboratively and has a keen eye for detail. You'll be a confident communicator, comfortable managing competing priorities and motivated by making a difference through excellent planning, coordination and support.
Whether you're currently working in policy, performance, governance, programme support, business administration or a similar role, this is an excellent opportunity to develop your career at the centre of a dynamic organisation that is driving change across the North East.
We are proud to be an inclusive employer, and we welcome applications from people of all backgrounds, communities and experiences. We support flexible working and encourage applications from candidates who are under-represented including women, disabled people, LGBTQ+ people and those from Black, Asian and minority ethnic backgrounds.
If you're passionate about public service, enjoy working in a fast-paced environment and want to play a part in shaping the future of our region, we'd love to hear from you.
If you would like to find out more, we will be holding a candidate information session 10:00-10:45 on Wednesday 9th September, where you can meet the team, hear about the other roles that we are recruiting to and ask any questions you might have. You can join the session anonymously here.
Closing date for applications: Thursday 17th September 2026 at 23:59
