Our Regeneration, Economy & Growth Service have an extensive remit, part of that falls to our Development Management Service. Durham has recently benefited from £3.6 billion worth of major inward investment and we’re proud to say that our Development Management Service have been fundamental in supporting delivery of that.

The role
As a result of internal promotion, we are looking to add a Planning Officer to our team.
The planning team manage over 4000 planning applications per year so we are looking for someone who can progress projects at pace with minimal supervision.

You will be an independent thinker who is able to work collaboratively with partners and stakeholders to achieve positive outcomes, you will be operating in what can be a very challenging landscape so the ability to influence and adapt will be key.

Skills and experience
We are looking for someone who can:
• Work within tight parameters ensuring targets and deadlines are met
• Work collaboratively with peers to deliver exceptional services to customers
• Work flexibly
• Respond quickly to changing demands
• Make effective and timely decisions

Your expertise should come with a town planning qualification or relevant experience including the processing of planning enquiries, planning applications and related matters.
