Council Housing, Design & Technical Services provides a wide-range of services and support to the Council, other local authorities and commercial customers.

Our services span the complete design lifecycle from master planning and feasibility through to contract completion. Our services include Architectural design, Contract Management, Quantity Surveying, Mechanical & Electrical engineering, Principal Designer, Structural engineering, Equalities Act advisor and BIM.

As Principal Quantity Surveyor you will be required to manage and provide a quantity surveying service, maintaining commercial information and ensuring compliance with contractual requirements. You will manage the staff of the Quantity Surveying section, setting priorities and measuring performance against agreed targets on an on-going basis to ensure the provision of an efficient, high quality support service to the authority.

You will also liaise with customer representatives and other outside parties on commercial issues including agreement of fees, extra services, claims and any additional payments.

You must have experience of procurement, construction and contract legal processes within the building industry and extensive knowledge of JCT/NEC forms of contract and of current Construction Law.

You will have an HND/degree in Quantity Surveying and full corporate membership of RICS. You will be required to maintain professional competence in order to direct and advise employees and to ensure compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements, current best practice and that commercial processes meet council requirements across the service.

You should have a full driving licence, with access to a car or means to mobility support.
