As a professional cookery apprentice you will be working as part of a team to assist senior chefs in a busy kitchen with preparing meals. You will be looking to improve your skills. Duties include:- preparation, cooking and service of food and beverages, setting up of the dining area, including washing tables, perparation of other service points, assistance with the service of meals and refreshments as required, clearance of the dining area and other service points after meal service, general kitchen duties such as washing up and cleaning of equipment, cupboards and surfaces, setting up of dining furniture, assisting with the administration, collection, reconcilliation and security of money relating to the service including till operation and operation of cashless systems, assistance with the receipt and storage of goods, stocktaking and completion of daily monitoring sheets, assisting with the operation of vending machines where necessary, assisiting with special events as and when required, ensuring compliance with Health and Safety legislation in all aspects but especially when using materials, tools and equipment, attend trainings sessions as and when required
Manual skills associated with food preparation, basic numeracy and literacy skills, physical skills related to the work, regular need to lift and carry items of a moderate weight, ability to work in a commercial kitchen environment, commitment to providing a quality service to customers, commitment to undertake job related training, reliable and keeps good time, ability to work flexible hours, ability to work well as a member of a team, ability to follow instructions
