This is an exciting opportunity to join the public health team of a large unitary local authority with a history of joint working between key partners to promote and protect health.

You will be working as part of a small analytical team supporting the Council’s Public Health Department in ensuring all opportunities are maximised to improve the health of the population. The post will cover the very large range of public health and health service topic areas. The team supports the department in the delivery of a programme of work on analysing health service needs and provision for the Northumberland Clinical Commissioning Group (the ‘core offer’), the NCC’s Health and Wellbeing board, Joint Strategic Needs Assessments, and public health performance and outcomes monitoring.

Candidates should possess a degree and/or equivalent work experience in a relevant topic e.g. statistics and significant experience and knowledge of IT packages, statistical techniques and methodologies. An understanding of health inequalities and the social determinants of health and good communication skills are also essential.
