Offering a fast paced, progressive working environment, Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council is a great career move.

Redcar and Cleveland is a place with a proud past and a bright future. We are building a future using the skills and ingenuity of our people, based around bold and ambitious plans, which link to the plans of the Tees Valley Combined Authority, and the South Tees Development Corporation.

The borough is an area of great contrasts with world class industries, market towns, visitor destinations, beautiful coastline and stunning countryside. The Council continues to invest in the area to create opportunities for investment and growth. Key to this work is the Economic Growth directorate which leads on our efforts to build upon successful investment and develop an exciting growth programme that will bring long-term improvements to the local economy, create jobs and build vibrant communities.

This role is for a dynamic, visionary, experienced Quantity Surveyor, comfortable with strategic decision making, and also with the practical details associated with a quantity surveyors role. You will be instrumental in helping lead the delivery of our ambitious, multi-year, £103 million capital programme.

You will lead the delivery of a step-change in the way the Economic Growth Directorate costs, manages and delivers its programme of work, helping ensure our investment delivers the outcomes set out in our new Corporate Plan ‘Our Flourishing Future’. The Directorate leads on our efforts to build on our track-record of successful investment and develop an exciting growth programme that will bring long-term improvements to the local economy, create jobs and build vibrant communities.

You will work alongside the Place Investment Team and the Director in the delivery of numerous major projects by undertaking the full range of pre and post contract quantity surveying services. This will include cost consultancy, to ensure the effective and timely delivery of best value services, that comply with all statutory building and design requirements and council policy. The post holder will also take a lead role in managing the Council’s capital building programme. The suitable candidate will have a strong track record of developing and delivering capital projects, on budget and on time. Public sector expertise is desirable, but your track record of delivering on-time, in-time, and to budget a complex set of multi-year capital projects is more important. The post will help deliver the economic, social and physical regeneration of Redcar and Cleveland, helping attract investment and grow our communities.

Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council has a high profile positive image as a Council that invests. We are committed to continue this exciting investment in the area to make the Borough a place where people and business want to visit, invest and live. You will play a major part in this.
