Further Information
This is Redcar and Cleveland. We are an ambitious council keen to build on our strong track record of innovation and partnership working, ensuring that we create a flourishing future for the borough and all of its residents. Key to this is a committed workforce who always gives their best. Offering a fast paced, progressive working environment, Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council is a great career move.

The Adults & Communities Directorate, consists of four strands, Adult Social Care, Community Development, Neighbourhoods and Public Health. Our aims are to continue to provide essential and highly valued services and to build capacity to enable local communities to make lasting change, improve quality of life, prosperity and the environment. As a directorate we lead on developing a culture of co-operation and co production, respecting and nurturing the skills and talents of local people and enabling them to fulfil their potential.

Appointed through National Trading Standards, the Regional Intelligence Analyst (RIA) works in partnership with local, regional and national Trading Standards Services and their partners to deliver intelligence led outcomes for matters in relation to Consumer and Business related detriment.

Predominantly working with enforcement officers at a local and regional level, the RIA provides the link between operational and intelligence functions utilising intelligence gathering, analysis and reporting techniques with a view to improving joined up working across the region and better results for both consumers and businesses across the North East.

As part of a small team within the North East they also link in with seven other Regions forming the Trading Standards Regional Intelligence Network across the UK.

Applicants will need to be computer literate, have an intelligence background linked to enforcement and preferably be conversant with i2 software (though training will be provided if this is not the case). The post requires a highly motivated individual who is a self-starter with good interpersonal skills; as with all partnership work relationship building and maintenance is key to the success of the position. A background in Trading Standards is desirable but not a pre-requisite of the position.

Whilst based in Middlesbrough, dependent on the appointees circumstances, partial homeworking is also an option and may be discussed prior to or at interview if this is of interest.

Applications should be made in the manner specified but if further information is required in advance of the shortlisting process you should contact Howard Turton on 01642 232940.

The council is an accredited Investors in People employer at gold level and holds ambassador status for the North East Better Health at Work Award.

We offer very attractive terms and conditions of employment, including generous annual leave entitlement, flexible working hours (where appropriate), membership of the Local Government Pension Scheme and access to numerous other salary sacrifice schemes and staff benefits/discounts, including a lease car scheme.
