Newcastle upon Tyne
NE3 3RU.

37 hrs per week, term time plus 5 training days as directed by the school.

Newcastle Bridges School is seeking to appoint a highly motivated, inspirational member of support staff to assist the SENDCo in supporting young people with SEN across the school.

This is a whole school role. The successful candidate will have a particular interest in, and experience of, working with students with SEN. They will acquire knowledge of the 2015 SEN Code of practice and the purpose of and procedures surrounding EHCPs. They will have excellent ICT skills in order to contribute to SEN report writing and EHCP paperwork.

The successful candidate will be required to travel to sites across the school and venues within the local area. They will work closely with outside agencies and various professionals in addition to working with staff and pupils across the school. The successful candidate will have effective communication skills and will be able to contribute to and, where necessary, chair meetings. They will be highly organised and be able to manage a range of practical, administrative and learning tasks, using their initiative, under the supervision of the SENDCo. The role will also involve working directly with young people with SEN; assessing their needs, delivering interventions and making recommendations about suitable strategies and provision for individuals.

Newcastle Bridges School consists of many school sites catering for the specific needs of its students both locally and at times nationally.

The school is strongly committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. The successful applicant will be required to obtain an enhanced Certificate of Disclosure from the Disclosure and Barring Service and go through a range of other recruitment checks.

As this post involves working with children and dealing with sensitive information, written references will be taken up and made available to interviewers before the final selection stage, even if you indicate otherwise.

The successful candidate will be deployed initially at Newcastle Bridges School but will be expected to work at any Prosper Learning Trust site should the need arise.
