The Special Educational Needs and Vulnerable Learners Service requires a SEN Specialist Careers Advisor to support the service in ongoing implementation of a wide range of new legislation which became effective on 1st September 2014.

Responsibilities of the post will include:

Work closely with a range of partners including schools, parents/carers, social care colleagues, health services, youth offending and educational psychology to ensure appropriate provision is made available to meet the needs of individual children and young people

Support young people aged 14 - 25 with an education health and care plan (EHCP) into education, training and employment as part of their personalised pathways to independence including Supported Internships

To be responsible for the preparation of EHCPs as part of education health and care assessments according to the SEND Code of Practice within relevant timescales and to assist in updating Plans following the annual review process

The role will include provision of specialist support to schools and settings to enable them to build their own capacity to deliver specialist Careers Education Information Advice and Guidance (CEIAG) to young people with SEND who do not have an EHCP and high quality impartial CEIAG to young people aged 14 - 25 who have a special educational need and/or a disability and an EHCP.

We are looking for individuals with a flexible 'can do' approach and who are able to contribute to maintaining the stability of the team whilst it undergoes are vision of its duties. Experience in a school setting, health service, post 16or social care environment would enable the successful applicants to promote the multi-agency ethos required to embed the revised assessment and provision processes.
