Further Information
Are you a data protection professional looking for a new role? We may have the job for you!

About the Team
The Correspondence and Information Rights Team (CIRT) consists of the Data Protection Team, Freedom of Information Team, Correspondence and Enquiries Unit, and the Innovation and Technology Team.

This role sits within our Data Protection Team, which oversees all data subject access requests and are the subject matter experts for data protection across HM Treasury.

We're a friendly and encouraging team with colleagues in London, Darlington and Norwich.

About the Job
You will work closely with HM Treasury's Data Protection Officer using your knowledge of UK data protection legislation to:
  • Lead the coordination and collation of data for subject access requests
  • Conduct data protection impact assessments
  • Advise on and develop the wording of privacy notices
  • Develop suitable data protection guidance and training sessions for the wider business
This is an exciting and multifaceted role that offers the chance to work with officials from right across HM Treasury. Working in an exciting and lively environment, you will be the first point of contact for data protection enquiries, advising on a variety of different issues and engaging with a range of people. This is a brilliant opportunity to develop strong working relationships with people at all levels, helping them to understand our data protection obligations.

About You
As you'll be advising colleagues on data protection, you'll need sound knowledge of data protection rights and obligations under the UK GDPR and Data Protection Act. The ability to apply your knowledge effectively when giving advice and leading on impact assessments is key, as is the ability to communicate often quite technical information in easy to understand language. If this sounds like you, we'd love to hear from you!

Some of the Benefits our people love!
  • 25 days annual leave (rising to 30 after 5 years), plus 8 public holidays and the King’s birthday (unless you have a legacy arrangement as an existing Civil Servant). Additionally, we operate flexitime systems, allowing employees to take up to an additional 2 days off each month
  • Flexible working patterns (part-time, job-share, condensed hours)
  • Generous parental and adoption leave packages
  • Access to a generous Defined Benefit pension scheme with employer contributions of 27%
  • Access to a cycle-to-work salary sacrifice scheme and season ticket advances
  • A range of active staff networks, based around interests (e.g. analysts, music society, sports and social club) and diversity
