Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council has an exciting opportunity for a Service Lead – SEND Placements & Governance to join our Education, Inclusion and Achievement Service on a fixed term basis for 12 months.
 
You will be responsible for leading and coordinating placements for children with special educational needs and those who are vulnerable requiring a placement following permanent exclusion or through fair access procedures.
 
You will play a lead role in ensuring appropriate high-quality provision is in place and will provide strategic input into commissioning and quality assurance plans and frameworks relating to children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities in the borough.
 
You will also oversee, lead and coordinate the Local Authority response to external complaints, information requests and mediation. You will have line management responsibility for employees within the service area.
 
You will receive excellent support and join a welcoming, supportive senior management team.
 
We are keen to hear from individuals with the following skills and experience:
 
  • A relevant qualification at graduate/post graduate level.
  • Extensive post-qualification experience.
  • Proven ability of managing services, teams and performance.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to form positive and constructive relationships.
  • A strong track record of engaging with stakeholders (internal / external) including parents/carers, children and young people.
  • An extensive knowledge of relevant legislation such as SEN Code of Practice 2015 and Children & Families Act 2014 as well as knowledge of government guidance relating to Fair Access protocols.
  • Effective Budget and Financial planning skills.
