Why become a social worker?
Each year in England, social workers support over 700,000 children. These children, and their families, face some of the worst life chances. Children, young people and their families need support when they are going through difficult times. As a social worker, you’ll work directly with the most disadvantaged in society and empower them to bring about positive change in their lives.
On the programme you will:
• Earn while you train. Frontline cover all the costs of your training, including your master’s degree. You’ll receive a tax-exempt bursary in year one of £18,000; that’s equivalent to a salary of £21,000. From your second year you’ll be employed by us. Our newly qualified social workers start on Grade 9 £31,099 to £34,723 (pay award pending), with a £2,000 welcome payment made as a lump sum when you join us. After completion of the Assessed and Supported Year in Employment you become eligible for progression to grade 11 which ranges from £36,298 - £40,478 (pay award pending).
• Receive high levels of support. In year one, you’ll work in a close-knit hub of trainees, managed by an experienced social worker and supported by your practice tutor. In year two, you’ll continue to meet regularly with your Frontline practice tutor and fellow trainees, while you work towards completion of the Assessed and Supported Year in Employment with the support of our Social Work Academy. In year three, you can access leadership coaching to support you further as well as the support of our Social Work Academy.
• Gain skills and qualifications. You’ll learn new skills while working in one of our social work teams, putting theory into practice straight away. You’ll qualify as a social worker and complete a fully-funded master’s degree. With the support of experienced social workers and your peers, you’ll learn how to work with families to protect vulnerable children.

What are we looking for?
Frontline will be looking for your commitment to children and families, ability to work with people and ability to lead with sound judgement as well as your ability to manage your time effectively and your professional conduct.
To be eligible to apply you must:
• Have at least a 2.2 (predicted or obtained) in an undergraduate honours degree (or international equivalent).
• Have obtained GCSE English Language at Grade C/4 or above (or approved equivalent qualification).
• Possess the right to work and study in the UK (including access to public funds) for the duration of the programme (until September 2027).
• Be resident in England by the time the programme commences.
• Not be a qualified social worker.
