Are you a qualified social worker passionate about working with children who are cared for?  Could you Be the difference and be part of a team to support in driving through our improvements?

In South Tyneside our children and families are at the forefront of everything we do.  We want every child and family to feel supported in times of need and empowered to make the right decisions.  We take pride in our social work teams, where staff are valued and supported and where we work together to drive this vision forward. We are committed to ensuring workloads are consistently lower, working with around 16 children and young people. This provides the time to build kind and compassionate relationships with those children and families whose lives you touch. We will create the space you need to do the relational direct work you came into social work for, helping you to support children and their families to reach their potential.

We have a good training offer and all practitioners have access to an on line research and resource offer. Our staff tell us they feel listened to, valued and supported, we regularly celebrate and share good practice. Our responsibility as a corporate parent is at the forefront of what we do, working with our partners to continue to be ambitious for the children we care for. The team has a supportive culture with an approachable, supportive management team, offering regular supervision and development sessions. We want strong social work practice to flourish in South Tyneside and this means that we are serious in recognising that best practice is our most powerful tool and top priority. We recognise the importance of the learning journey, reflective supervision, encouraging you to be part of communities of practice, and promoting your own professional development.

We want to attract a diverse range of social workers who share our passion and ambitions, as an experienced social worker you will have highly developed knowledge and skills, a commitment to providing an outstanding service to children and young people and a leadership role in supporting our less experienced social workers.

If you are not yet a progressed social worker you will be supported through our career progression framework, and when ready, complete a progression portfolio, as well as access to post qualifying training, including practice education.

As a Newly Qualified Social Worker you will be supported through your Assessed and Supported Year in Employment (ASYE) attending training and receiving regular supervision and mentoring to support you in developing your social work skills and practice.
