Further Information
This is a unique and exciting opportunity for an inspirational and dynamic leader to join Hope Wood Academy and make a significant difference in the lives of our young people and our community within the position of Secondary English Teacher.

As part of a Multi-Academy Trust of four special academies based in Sunderland, Easington and Stockton and as part of wider SEND regional networks, we work collaboratively to create the best possible opportunities for pupils with SEND. As a Trust we offer a range of professional development and progression opportunities for all of our staff.

The position has become available due to internal move within the Academy and we are looking to recruit an experienced English specialist who is a creative, enthusiastic and passionate practitioner. Someone who shares our Academy’s values of kindness, honesty and integrity.

Prospective candidates could have a mainstream or SEND background and will be looking forward to teaching our students in KS3 and KS4.
In return, you will join a progressive and innovative team who are dedicated to lifelong learning for all. As Silver Investors in People Award holders we believe ‘our people’ are our strongest asset and we would love to hear from you if you share our passion and uncompromising vision for young people with SEND.

We highly welcome visits to the school prior to application as an opportunity to meet our amazing young people and staff for yourself.

Closing Date:             Friday 3rd May 2024 (9.00am)
Interview:                   Tuesday 21st May 2024

The Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people with Special Needs and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and therefore will be subject to a DBS check from the Disclosure and Barring Service.

Please note – if you are shortlisted, you will be subject to an online search. This is not part of the shortlisting process and you will have the opportunity to address any issues of concern that come up during the search at interview.
