Swalwell Primary School seek to appoint a Level 2 Teaching Assistant to work in our successful and happy school. The successful applicant will be highly motivated and committed to ensuring the active participation, learning and achievement of all pupils in our inclusive school.
Applicants should have an experience of supporting learners with additional needs (either academically, socially or physically).

The Governors and Headteacher of Swalwell Primary School would like to appoint a hardworking, dedicated and enthusiastic Level 2 Teaching Assistant.

The successful candidate will
• Hold a recognised NVQ level 2 teaching assistant qualification or equivalent. (Essential)
• Possess excellent literacy and mathematics skills. (Essential and qualifications will need to be provided at interview for both)
• Demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Possess an understanding of how best to support children's personal, social and emotional wellbeing.
• Be able to motivate and inspire children to learn.
• Be able to use ICT to support learning.
• Be able to support the needs and development of all learners in our inclusive school.
• Have a knowledge of supporting learners with physical disabilities.
• Have a secure knowledge in supporting learners with a diagnosis of autism.
• Work alongside the class teacher, SENDCo and other practitioners to meet statutory needs of learners’ Educational Health Care Plans.
• Be committed to continuous professional development.

You will be required to:
• Support children with individual needs as detailed in Education Health Care Plan’s (EHCP’s), both 1-1 in designated areas and within the classroom.
• Work, under the direction of the class teacher to resource and support the children with tasks set.
• Work alongside other professionals seeking advice when necessary.
• Attend training to develop skills required linked to the child’s needs
• Communicate and share information with class teacher and SENCo as appropriate.
• Communicate with parents.

Visits to School are strongly encouraged and will take place on the following dates:
Thursday 2nd May at 9.30am.
Wednesday 8th May at 4pm.

Salary amounts quoted are from the 1 September to 31 August, therefore, if you commence employment part way through the academic year, they will be subject to an equated salary adjustment.
