We have an exciting vision for transforming how we use our data assets across the organisation.
 
The vision is being made a reality through a significant investment in an enterprise-wide data infrastructure built on the Microsoft Azure platform.
 
We are also reviewing our organisational structures, bringing people from across the organisation together into a single team, that will deliver a centre of excellence for data science across the Council and in partnership with others.
 
Essential to our new approach is investing in the dedicated skills and capacity to structure our corporate data assets. We are building a new team of data engineers with the capability to do this.
 
We are looking for a Master Data Management professional to lead this new team and hold responsibility for design, implementation and management of master data and processes.
 
The Master Data Management Team Leader will perform a crucial role in ensuring the accuracy, consistency, reliability and security of critical data assets across the enterprise.

WHAT IS INVOLVED?
You will be responsible for the data engineering function, which collaborates with various teams, including data governance, and business stakeholders, to develop effective data management strategies and solutions.
 
You will design, develop, and maintain the Master Data Management system, including data models, workflows, and integration with other data systems.
 
You will guide a team of professionals, providing mentorship, training, and feedback to foster their professional growth and enhance overall team performance.
 
You will implement data quality rules and validation processes ensuring accuracy and integrity, and you will monitor compliance with data governance policies.
 
As part of our ongoing accommodation strategy, this post will be moving to one of our modern and fit for purpose offices in the vicinity of Durham City.  You will have the ability to work from home and from an office location as part of our hybrid working policy.

WHAT WILL I NEED?

We are looking for a strategic thinker with proven experience in Master Data Management, data governance, and data quality management. You will be proficient in Master Data Management tools such as Informatica MDM, SAP MDG, or similar platforms.

You will have a strong understanding of data modelling, data integration, and data quality principles.

You will need a degree level qualification or equivalent, in a relevant subject.

HYBRID WORKING
Durham County Council currently operates a hybrid working policy where a model of 2 days in the workplace and 3 days at home/remote will apply. This model is pro-rated for part time roles and arrangements are at managers discretion, alternatively you can work all of your contracted hours within the workplace if you prefer.
