Job Title: Team Manager, Pre-Birth Team

Salary: Grade 14 £40,057- £43,821 (salary on appointment is determined by length of service and level of experience).

Location: The team will be based in Ferryhill, but will carry out work with parents throughout County Durham.

Following a successful pilot of a pre-birth intervention service, which received positive feedback from the Courts and Cafcass and won three Children and Young People Now Awards in 2013, we are now creating a new pre-birth team.

The team will consist of seven newly created posts, a team manager, a social work consultant and five social workers.

The team will provide intensive planned intervention, assessment and support during pregnancy to parents where either parent had a child previously removed through care proceedings. The aim of the team will be to support parents to provide safe appropriate parenting to their baby. However, if despite this support parents are not in a position do so, the team will plan to ensure the safety and wellbeing of the child.

Although the work carried out by the team will be planned, each social worker will be carrying out intensive work using evidence based tools at the highest level of risk. All cases will be in PLO and a high proportion of care proceedings is likely.

This post is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated individual who wants to:

• Influence the development of a new service.
