Fixed term initially for 12 months with potential to be extended Gateshead Council is seeking to appoint a noise and anti-social behaviour specialist to join the Private Sector Housing Team. The Team is made up of Environmental Health Officers and Technical Officers and works across a broad range of housing related issues to improve housing standards and to tackle nuisances. Noise and anti-social behaviour are a key cause of requests for service received by the team. You will lead on the team’s response to the investigation of neighbour noise and anti-social behaviour complaints, working with homeowners, tenants, landlords, other Council services and organisations outside of the Council to resolve problems. You will manage a personal caseload of requests for service from the public, carry out in-depth investigations, communicate with residents and landlords and take enforcement action where needed to help to reduce the impact of neighbour noise and anti-social behaviour on communities and neighbourhoods. You will have a qualification in accoustics and noise control, a Certificate of Competence Environmental Noise Measurement or in the specialist area of tackling anti-social behaviour to at least HNC level and an in-depth knowledge of current and emerging noise and anti-social behaviour related legislation. You will be self-motivated with a personal commitment to delivering high quality outcomes. You will also have well developed planning, organisational and customer service skills and be computer literate. You will have a current driving licence.
