Further Information
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join a growing charity as a Victims First Coordinator. Both Permanent and Fixed Term contracts are available; please specify your preference in your application.

A full job description will be available on the recruitment portal, please contact enquiries@victimsfirstnorthumbria.org.uk for an application form.

As a Victim Care Coordinator you will be the first point of contact and your role will be to ensure victims are updated and supported throughout the process. You will assess the needs of individuals and tailor support packages which identify with the specific needs of each case. Your role will also be to work with the victim and offender to deliver effective Restorative Justice Interventions where appropriate.

Victims First Northumbria is a charity supporting victims of crime across the Northumbria region. The organisation was established in 2015 and since then we have increased our skilled Coordinator team, working directly with victims of crime and have a number of different specialist roles within the organisation. More information on our organisation can be found on our website – www.victimsfirstnorthumbria.org.uk

*Please note, whilst we are currently based at Cobalt Business Exchange our office premises will be moving to a city centre location at the end of the year.

FAQ’S

Are there any specific qualifications and experience for the role?

There are no specific qualifications and experience for the role of Victim Care Coordinator, however previous experience working with people, safeguarding or understanding of Criminal Justice System is preferred.

Can Fixed Term Roles become permanent?

Fixed term roles may be made permanent but this is dependent on funding and we wouldn’t be able to guarantee this at the point of application.

Can an applicant visit the unit?

We receive hundreds of application for our roles, which is fantastic, however wouldn’t be able to facilitate a visit to our unit for every applicant. If you have been selected for an interview, we do offer an opportunity for an informal chat with one of the management team.

Is the role office based?

Primarily the role is office based at our office in Cobalt Business Exchange (this will change by the end of the year), however there are some visits required either in client’s homes or out in the community. Mileage and expenses are reimbursed. A driving licence/access to own vehicle is not essential, though preferable.

What career progression opportunities are there?

There are many different opportunities for training/qualifications and often opportunities arise to develop into specialist roles. As part of the Coordinator role you may be asked to take on other tasks as part of a ‘champion role’, such as delivering external presentations and other reasonable duties where required to enhance your skill set and development.

Due to dealing with sensitive and confidential systems you will be required to complete Police vetting to level 2 and complete an Enhanced DBS check. Appointment to this role will only be upon successful clearance of the above and satisfactory reference requests.
