Further Information
Help shape the workforce of a growing organisation

We're looking for a Workforce Planning Lead to play a key role in helping the North East Mayoral Strategic Authority make informed, evidence-based workforce decisions. This is an exciting opportunity to lead the development of workforce intelligence, planning and recruitment analytics that will support organisational growth, future workforce capability and effective decision-making across the Authority.

Working at the heart of our People and Culture team, you'll transform complex workforce and recruitment data into meaningful insight, helping senior leaders understand workforce trends, forecast future needs and make strategic decisions with confidence. You will also drive improvements in reporting, workforce planning processes and data quality, ensuring our workforce information is accurate, accessible and impactful.

The Role

As Workforce Planning Lead, you will lead the development and delivery of workforce planning and analytical reporting across the organisation. You will produce workforce dashboards, vacancy forecasts, trend analysis and recruitment intelligence that support proactive workforce management and organisational planning.

You will:
  • Develop and maintain workforce datasets, dashboards, reports and management information.
  • Produce workforce forecasts, scenario modelling and trend analysis to support planning and decision-making.
  • Monitor workforce and recruitment performance, identifying risks, opportunities and emerging trends.
  • Translate complex workforce data into clear insights, visualisations and recommendations.
  • Lead improvements to workforce reporting, systems, processes and data quality.
  • Support the development of workforce planning methodologies, performance measures and reporting frameworks.
  • Work closely with Talent Partners, managers and stakeholders to provide expert workforce insight and guidance.
  • Identify opportunities to automate reporting and improve efficiency across workforce planning and recruitment processes.

About You

You will be a highly analytical professional who enjoys working with data and turning information into meaningful intelligence that influences organisational decisions. You will have experience producing workforce reports, management information or business intelligence and be confident analysing data from multiple sources to identify trends, risks and opportunities.

You will also bring:
  • Experience developing dashboards, performance reporting and data visualisations.
  • Strong workforce, HR, recruitment or organisational data analysis skills.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and experience using reporting or visualisation tools.
  • The ability to explain complex data clearly to a range of audiences.
  • Strong stakeholder management and relationship-building skills.
  • A proactive, organised and solutions-focused approach.
  • A commitment to continuous improvement and evidence-based decision-making.
  • Experience with Power BI, workforce planning methodologies, forecasting or public sector workforce planning would be advantageous.

What it Isn't

This isn't a traditional HR advisory role. While you'll work closely with People and Culture colleagues, your focus will be on workforce intelligence, analytics, planning and reporting. You will spend your time uncovering insights, improving workforce data and supporting strategic decision-making rather than managing employee relations casework or operational HR activity.

So, if you...
  • Enjoy solving problems through data and analysis;
  • Can turn complex information into clear, practical insight;
  • Want to influence organisational decision-making and workforce strategy;
  • Are passionate about continuous improvement and delivering meaningful workforce intelligence;
...then we'd love to hear from you.

We are proud to be an inclusive employer, and we welcome applications from people of all backgrounds, communities and experiences. We support flexible working and encourage applications from candidates who are under-represented including women, disabled people, LGBTQ+ people and those from Black, Asian and minority ethnic backgrounds.

If you would like an informal discussion, or further information about this role please contact Lorna Hodson-Fraser, Head of People and Culture; lorna.hodson.fraser@northeast-ca.gov.uk

Closing date for applications: Friday 30th October 2026 at 23:59
