The WorkPlace, South Tyneside

Would you like to be part of an exciting project which will transform our offer to young people who are leaving care?

By putting young people in the lead, the WorkPlace project will deliver changes to services which make the most difference to our young people. Bringing together people and services, the WorkPlace will create new opportunities for young people to achieve their goals, and the relationships and connections to support them.

The WorkPlace will support holistic change to young people’s experience in areas such as accommodation, well-being and relationships through to skills for education training and employment. We are looking for outstanding and motivated individuals with the commitment and ambition to ensure the best possible outcomes for children looked after and care leavers in South Tyneside.

In South Tyneside we are passionate about making a difference for children and families, rated good by Ofsted and a DfE Partner in Practice. We are recognised as a high performing Council by the LGA.

WorkPlace Development Manager

Working with a team across disciplines and agencies, the WorkPlace Development Manager will change the way we ensure our children looked after and care leavers are equipped to take up Education, Employment and Training opportunities.

You will:
• Deliver the vision for the WorkPlace, working closely with the Service Manager (ICLAS service) and the Virtual Head.
• Ensure that young people are consulted, engaged and direct requirements for the WorkPlace. Support their employment as an integral aspect of the project.
• Bring together the multi-disciplinary Project Team to ensure that there is a single shared understanding of direction and delivery requirements, making sure that the project delivers and commissions change that will be sustained in the long-term.
• Engage a range of stakeholders in supporting the WorkPlace mission including Elected/Cabinet Members, Senior Officers, Partner Agencies and Employers.
• Work closely with evaluation partners to demonstrate impact by putting in place a system of measures to assess current baseline and progress toward goals and objectives.

South Tyneside Council is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults.
