Further Information
Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council prides itself on being a great place to work where staff are trusted, valued and supported to make a positive contribution at work.

Despite the pandemic the Council continues to have ambitious plans for the future. In a recent review of the HR Service the Corporate Management Team decided to create additional posts to provide professional support to our managers and employees and to ensure that the Council is able to deliver on its priorities. The HR Service also provides advice and support to our maintained Schools and a number of Academies under a service level agreement.

We are seeking to appoint an experience HR Advisor to work as part of a professional Advisory Service, providing advice and support on a wide range of issues including complex disciplinary & grievance case work, attendance management concerns, and policy development. Working closely with HR colleagues and Managers, you will ensure fair and consistent advice is given in-line with our policies and procedures whilst also promoting the Council’s culture statement, values and behaviours. You will also be required to support the Assistant HR Advisor within the team.

Essential Requirements: The ideal candidate will have a Level 5 CIPD qualification or recent relevant experience, excellent communication and negotiation skills, be able to deal with difficult issues and conflict, and have a considered approach in order to provide all parties with confidence in advice. Flexibility, a willingness to learn and take on new challenges, and resilience are also essential in the job role.

This post has been identified as suitable for flexible working which enables the postholder to work 40% of their working time away from the office.

We also offer an excellent total reward package including a competitive salary, generous Pension Scheme and annual leave entitlement as well as access to a number of additional employee benefits and a wide range of learning and development opportunities.

If you would like an informal discussion about the role, please contact Gemma Dowd, HR Manager, Advisory. Tel 01642 526984 / email gemma.dowd@stockton.gov.uk or Emma Stanworth, Senior HR Advisor, Tel: 01642 526982 / email emma.stanworth@stockton.gov.uk
