Northumberland County Council Planning Service is looking to recruit 2 permanent Senior Planning Officers who are committed to delivering an efficient, effective and customer focused Planning Service.
The Development Management Team receives circa 5,500 planning applications per year and therefore operates at a fast pace. We are looking to appoint the right people with the drive and ambition to add experience and expertise to a very focused Development Management Team output.
Two vacancies have arisen for Senior Planning Officers within the Development Management Service. The first will be responsible for a personal caseload comprising a high proportion of major and other planning applications received from across the County. The second vacancy seeks applications from those specifically with EIAminerals/waste/renewable energy expertise. This is a unique and exciting, yet challenging role, that would suit anyone with the requisite requirements.
If you have a sound working knowledge of the development management process along with a positive attitude and a wish to seek and deliver solutions, then we would like to hear from you. You should be enthusiastic, committed and highly motivated. You must be able to work under your own initiative and also effectively in partnership with Planning colleagues, Developers, Agents, Elected Members, Parish Councils and other stakeholders in order to support the Planning Service. Both roles require a minimum of 3 years' requisite Planning experience, excellent analytical and negotiation skills, and good communication skills; both oral and written. In both roles, you will also be required to present reports on behalf of the Service to the Planning Committee, assess and sign off officer reports, assist and mentor officers and technicians and provide advice and guidance where required.
This is a full-time, permanent contract
