Due to the promotion of the existing post holder, an exciting opportunity has arisen for the role of Senior Accountant. Responsibilities of this post will include influencing the Council’s Medium Term Financial Plan through a robust budget setting and monitoring process. The successful candidate will also be responsible for providing strategic financial advice on a range of matters to Directors and Senior Managers. Ensuring established relationships with a range of stakeholders continue to grow and develop, as well as creating new ones forms a critical part of the role. It is expected that the post holder will play a key part in a number of upcoming projects where an understanding of the major financial considerations and their impact will be critical and influence potential courses of action. There will also be line management responsibility for Finance Officers within the Team where the Senior Accountant will have to draw on their softer skills in order to provide support and aid development.

As part of a pilot until 31st October 2022, this post has been identified as suitable for flexible working which enables the postholder to work up to 60% of their working time away from the office.
