Personal Advisor (UASC)
(Integrated Looked After Children Service, Leaving Care Team)
£31,364 pa

Fixed Term contract until March 2026

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our dedicated leaving care team as a Personal Advisor, with a particular focus on improving service delivery to Unaccompanied Asylum Seeking Children (UASC) and Young People. Following a successful focussed Ofsted visit in March 2022 to the integrated team, the inspection highlighted that workers are dedicated and committed and are clearly proud of our young people. Additionally, that young people supported by the service have long lasting, trusting relationships with PA’s and Support is tailored to young people’s individual needs and wishes.

In December 2022 Ofsted subsequently noted the above again and that PA’s are aspirational for our young people and we have an expansive local offer.

We strive for continuous improvement and on building upon our established success we are looking for an enthusiastic, solution focussed person to work alongside us and our young people.

This role will suit those who have a real commitment and passion in delivering outstanding services to care leavers. The successful applicant will be someone who strives for this same goal.

The role will provide support and interventions to young people in, or leaving care age 16-25. The Personal Advisor will be the key professional for young people over 18, providing practical and emotional support based on the assessment and subsequent co-developed pathway planning. The role will also provide support and intervention to young people requiring a service in line with the Southwark judgement.

You will fulfil the role and responsibilities of Personal Advisor to young people over the age of 18 that have left care as well as building relationships and offering support to young people who are age 16 and 17.

As we are committed to enhancing the service and offer to young people, the role will require a flexible approach to providing support to young people outside of office hours as required.

We welcome an informal discussion if you would like to know more about the team and our service with and on behalf of young people. To arrange, please contact Practice Manager Lynne Kell via email lynne.kell@southtyneside.gov.uk

We offer an excellent benefits package and further information is available here - www.southtyneside.gov.uk/workinghere

South Tyneside Council is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults.  We expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment and an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) disclosure will be sought along with other relevant pre-employment checks.

Please note that if you apply for this role, all communication regarding your application will be sent to the email address that you have registered with North East Jobs, please ensure you check your junk mail.
