We have a vacancy within the Environmental Health Team for an enthusiastic, self-motivated and well organised Technical Officer, who can manage a varied workload.  You will be part of a small but busy team, delivering enforcement and compliance activities across a range of Environmental Health functions, with a particular focus on Animal Health and Welfare, Environmental Protection issues and Health and Safety at Work.  Depending on the needs of the service you may also be expected to support the team to deliver Private Sector Housing and Food Safety functions.

You will primarily be responsible for carrying out inspections and ensuring compliance of all premises subject to the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018, and other similar legislation.  Ideally you will hold an Animal Licensing Inspector Level 3 Certificate (or equivalent) granted by a body recognised and regulated by the Office of Qualifications and Examinations Regulation (Ofqual) or be working towards this qualification.  Experience of health and safety enforcement in workplaces for which the local authority is the enforcing authority and of working in a regulatory/enforcement role will also be advantageous.

If you have an interest in regulation, administration and enforcement, enjoy dealing with the public and like getting things done, then this could be the job for you.  The ability to work as part of a team is essential, as are excellent communication and organisational skills. You will need to be competent in the use of Information Technology systems and be dependable to work with confidential and sensitive information.
