Pledge Support Officer
(Town Hall, South Shields)
£31,364 pa

An exciting post has been established within the Council’s Governance and Corporate Affairs Directorate.  The role, Pledge Support Officer, will support the delivery, development and monitoring of the South Tyneside Pledge – this is a key partnership initiative that has been nationally recognised.

The South Tyneside Pledge encourages businesses and organisations in South Tyneside to spend in, recruit from, and support the Borough, is helping to increase the links between the private, public and voluntary sectors, between businesses and young people and between companies themselves.

It has helped organisations to get more involved in the local community, consider the environment and health of their employees and think about how they can give something back to the communities they work in.   With a focus on local spend, the Pledge has added at least £3million to the local economy.

Nearly 300 organisations have signed the Pledge, regular engagement and events are taking place and the Pledge has been nominated for a number of national awards.  South Tyneside Council is keen to further rollout and develop the Pledge for the benefit of local businesses, organisations and residents.

Therefore, this exciting new post will: deliver, further develop and promote the South Tyneside Pledge; evaluate and monitor the impact of the Pledge; support Pledge members, linking them to opportunities and encouraging collaboration; work with Council teams and partners to provide further resources for Pledge members; and understand best practice from across the country and showcase the work of the Pledge locally, regionally and nationally.

We are looking for an individual with excellent communication and partnership working skills.  You can find out more about the South Tyneside Pledge, who has signed up, the support available and a host of case studies here: The Pledge - Invest South Tyneside
