The Head of Strategic Transport and Environment is a new position which will bring together a number of key services focussing on strategic development across transport, environment and sustainability.
As a key member of the Place Strategy Leadership Team, you will effectively contribute to the Council’s vision and strategic ambitions which include - South Tyneside is a place where residents live in clean, green and connected communities where they feel safe.
Specifically, you will lead on the Council’s carbon neutral ambitions through the Sustainable South Tyneside Strategy, ensure the production and delivery of a Strategic Transport Strategy, and oversee a broad range of Strategic Place services including Environmental Protection, Flooding and Coastal, Ecology and Waste and Recycling strategy, and Commercialisation across the Directorate supporting the Council’s wider transformation programme.
