We're looking for a passionate and resilient Senior Family Worker to join our Edge of Care Team, supporting children and families at times of crisis and helping children remain safely at home wherever possible.
Join Our Edge of Care Team
At Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council, we believe children achieve their best outcomes when they can safely remain within their family and community networks. We know that with the right support at the right time, families can overcome significant challenges and avoid unnecessary family breakdown.
Our dedicated Edge of Care Service provides intensive support to children, young people and families where there is a risk of a child entering care. This is an exciting opportunity to join a developing service that is making a real difference across Stockton-on-Tees.
This is an excellent opportunity for colleagues who are looking to broaden their experience within Children's Social Care and contribute to an innovative service focused on keeping families together.
What You'll Be Doing
As a Senior Family Worker, you'll provide intensive, evidence-based support to children, young people and families where there is a risk of family breakdown or a child entering care. You'll build strong relationships with families, deliver targeted interventions, and work alongside Social Workers and partner agencies to achieve positive outcomes.
You'll:
- Deliver intensive support and crisis intervention to families.
- Build positive relationships with children, young people and parents.
- Ensure the child's voice is central to all planning and intervention.
- Contribute to assessments, meetings and multi-agency planning.
- Work flexibly, including evenings and weekends when required.
- Who We're Looking For
- We're seeking someone who is motivated, resilient and committed to achieving the best outcomes for children and families. You'll be confident building relationships, working alongside families through challenging situations and adapting your approach to meet individual needs.
You will bring:
- A childcare qualification such as NVQ Level 3, NNEB, BTEC in Childcare or equivalent.
- Experience of working with children, young people and families.
- An understanding of child and adolescent development and mental health.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- The ability to plan, deliver and review targeted interventions.
- Excellent recording, report writing and IT skills.
Hear From Our Team
'Making a positive difference in the lives of young people and their families is why I enjoy this role so much. Being able to help families overcome challenges, navigate difficult circumstances, and support young people to achieve better outcomes makes the role both rewarding and worthwhile. While the work can be challenging at times, particularly when families are facing complex issues and change can be slow, seeing positive progress and knowing you have played a part in that journey makes it all the more meaningful.'
