If you have answered yes, then this is the opportunity for you! We are delighted to be recruiting for a Revenues, Benefits and Welfare Officer to join our team.

Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council issues and collects council tax and business rates from around 91,000 households and 5,800 businesses every year to fund the delivery of its services across the borough. The Revenues, Benefits and Welfare Service supports the most financially vulnerable of the borough’s residents, administering council tax reduction and housing benefit and a wide range of welfare support schemes.

There are 3 operational teams within the Revenues, Benefits and Welfare Service:
  • Council Tax & Benefits
  • Income Collection
  • Welfare Assistance

The post holder may have the opportunity to be interchangeable between all 3 teams as you progress through the career grade.

The ideal candidate will have previous experience in Revenues, Benefits, Welfare or a similar environment and have a good understanding of legislation and procedures. The postholder will be someone who is hard working, has excellent customer service skills, enthusiastic, and adaptable to change.

This is an interesting and varied role, and you will need to have excellent IT skills and good attention to detail whilst being able to prioritise and achieve targets.

Appointments are expected to be made at Grade G within the career grade structure. However, candidates who can demonstrate significant relevant knowledge, skills and experience may be considered for appointment at Grade H.
