Further Information
Do you want to help transform lives through lifechanging learning?
Are you passionate about teaching and learning?
Do you have strong management and leadership experience in the adult learning sector?

Look no further! We have a fantastic opportunity join our team here at Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council as a Community Learning Coordinator on a Fixed Term basis for 12 months.

Within the Learning and Skills Service we are committed to support Stockton-on-Tees residents and businesses to meet their full economic potential whilst increasing opportunities, prosperity, wellbeing and cohesion in the communities we serve. We have a very clear mission to create a brighter future for all.

Ofsted (2023) judged the service as being a ‘good’ learning provider and we now strive to become recognised as outstanding in all that we do.

In this role you will lead on the management, planning, and implementation of community learning provision which meets the needs of residents, employers and other stakeholders. The postholder will be responsible for managing delivery plans, fulfilling recruitment and performance targets, and the quality of programme delivery, all of which will result in outstanding levels of learner achievement and progression leading to personal, social and economic growth.

The ideal candidate will be a strong leader with experience in the post-19 adult learning sector delivering Adult Skills Fund (ASF) programmes. Applicants must be able to demonstrate practicable knowledge of the Ofsted Inspection Toolkit and have experience of an Ofsted inspection in at least a ‘good’ or ‘expected standard’ learning organisation.

For more detailed information about the role, please refer to the Job Description and Person Specification included in the Supporting Documents section.

This is a fixed term contract covering a secondment. The expected duration of the contract is 12 months but will be reviewed periodically with the post holder.

As this is a fixed-term post, secondment opportunities will be considered for internal employees. Please obtain prior approval from your current line manager before completing the application. For further information, please refer to the council’s secondment policy.

Please note that this post is subject to a Disclosure Barring Service (DBS) check as part of the recruitment process.

Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council prides itself on being a great place to work where staff are trusted, valued and supported to make a positive contribution at work.

We offer an excellent total reward package, including:
  • A competitive salary of up to £42,123
  • 27 days annual leave per year rising to 32 with 5 years service (plus bank holidays). Ability to purchase additional leave is also available.
  • Generous Pension Scheme through the LGPS with ability to pay extra and plan for retirement.
  • Access to a number of other employee benefits including learning & development opportunities, a car lease scheme, discounts at high street and online retailers, access to online GP appointments, an employee assistance programme and physiotherapy services.
  • And that’s not all – you can also work flexibly where you can work part of your week at home.

If you would like an informal discussion about the post, please contact Craig Taylor, Adult Learning and Skills Manager on craig.taylor@stockton.gov.uk or 01642 528812.

We are intending to interview on Friday 9 October 2026 and you will receive notification through North East Jobs if you have been shortlisted.

Please note that we’re unable to provide visa sponsorship for this role, so candidates will need to have an existing right to work in the UK.
