About the role
The YOS-Prevention team deliver targeted interventions to those young people displaying risks relating to anti-social behaviour/offending in the community, to prevent young people entering the criminal justice system.
You would be required to work office, agile and outreach and at any company recognised workplace.
What you will do
- Work to specified timescales, to deliver voluntary interventions to children and young people at risk of anti-social/offending behaviour. This will include face to face meetings with young people and their families in the home, community or school setting.
- You will use a case management system to record all relevant information and maintain records. Ensure accurate, timely recordings on the child’s individual file, analysing and reflecting on the issues impacting on the young person/family.
- Find creative ways and be proactive at engaging young people who have multiple barriers and are reluctant to participate in intervention to prevent entry into the criminal justice service (CJS).
- Use a multi-agency approach and share information or make appropriate referrals to or signpost young people to other services.
- To safeguard and promote the welfare of children and young people.

This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and therefore will be subject to an Enhanced DBS check from the Disclosure and Barring Service. We will also carry out an online internet search for information that is publicly available online that might suggest that you are not fit to work with children or young people
Due to recent changes in UKVI rules, this role does not meet the criteria for Skilled Worker visa sponsorship under the updated eligibility requirements effective 22 July 2025.
We want you to apply if you:
- If you have direct experience of developing meaningful professional relationships with children, young people and their families.
- You will demonstrate the skills and knowledge to complete holistic assessments and analyse the information to develop individual intervention plans.
- You will have experience of multi-agency working and can demonstrate effective communication with a range of audiences and in a variety of formats (verbal and written) and provide information advice, and guidance and to signpost and refer to partner agencies for further support if appropriate.
- You are non-judgemental, compassionate and empathetic and motivated to support children and families to make positive change and achieve the best outcomes.
- You are a team player and able to work unsupervised.
- You are educated to Level 2 English and mathematics. (Grade C GCSE or equivalent)
- Must have current driving licence and access to car (and be willing to transport young people)
